Harmonic
Harmonic announced NSG Exo, a cost-effective cable endpoint appliance that enables the deployment of a distributed access architecture (DAA) over coaxial networks. NSG Exo, is a distributed converged cable access platform (CCAP) system, which allows service providers to move their RF distribution requirements from the header or core to integrate them further into the network, simplifying the design and operation of the network to address power and space constraints, offer flexibility in service and reduce operating and capital expenses.
It is one of the first products in the industry to support a DAA architecture. This CCAP-ready system, which supports industry standards, includes the DOCSIS/EuroDOCSIS/J-DOCSIS CMTS specifications and will soon also incorporate universal edgeQAM capability.
By providing video, data and voice (triple play) services over coaxial networks using a single low-power device, NSG Exo helps cable and telecommunications service providers and entrepreneurs generate additional revenue opportunities by accessing an unexplored customer base, such as residential complexes hotels and university campuses.
