Latin America. With Edge One, Lawo opens a new chapter in audio and video connectivity for broadcast and professional audio/video workflows. Edge One offers great flexibility on the I/O side, providing combined and expandable connectivity and functionality for video and audio in a compact format, allowing users to do more with less.
One side of the device is equipped with 8 bidirectional HD-BNC connectors for SDI signals, which can function as inputs or outputs, and 4 HDMI outputs, two of which can also be used as inputs. In addition, it has SFP ports for MADI I/O, GPI I/O, an audio interface via USB-C, and synchronization, reference, and word clock connectors.
On the other side of the device, three audio interface modules cover various I/O applications: mic/line inputs only; mic/line inputs and line outputs; and a dedicated module for commenting applications. The audio interface modules are easy to swap out for quick utilization.
Since not all software connectors and functionalities are required in every use case, Edge One is compatible with Lawo FLEX. Lawo's functionality, which can be licensed through software, allows users to activate what they need and skip what they don't. For immediate deployment, Edge One is available in three intuitive packages: Audio, Video, and Audio + Video.
The following features can be licensed if not included in the selected package: video signal instances (input or output), video frame synchronization, JPEG XS encoding/decoding, the Edge One Commentary app, MADI audio I/O with built-in SRC, and the mc²-grade audio DSP for low-latency local mixing.
Edge One can be rack-mounted (1U) or installed in a convenient location using an optional mounting bracket. In addition, it is compact enough to be easily transported from one project to another, protected with rubber bumpers.
Edge One supports SMPTE ST2110 natively and offers up to 25 Gbps bandwidth. It is equipped with RJ45 ports (including PoE++) and SFP ports. For applications that do not require a network connection, Edge One matches and even surpasses Lawo's legendary solutions, which are still popular for audio extraction, mixing, and insertion.
