Grass Valley showcases its new 4K one-wire based on the new TICO 4:1 lossless visual compression standard with IP connection for K-Frame mixers, processing a 4K/UHD source from the LDX 86 XCU series base station, and all through a single, lightweight cable.
Instead of using four 3G cables to carry an HD or 4K signal, Grass Valley's solution is to use the TICO 4:1, a compressor without visual loss, developed by Intopix to carry a high-quality signal through a single cable.
As a key part of the IP Glass-to Glass solution, the connection of a single 4K cable allows the transmission of 4K signal using the standard 10 GigE connections, which avoids the use of cumbersome and error-prone 4quad signals (4x1080p) and at the same time offers the flexibility and power of IP infrastructures. It offers both single-cable 4K IP connection and traditional SDI connection in its products, making it easier for users to create hybrid IP/SDI workflows until they are ready for the IP commitment of the future.
