Mexico. Netflix announced that the launch of its basic plan with ads, a strategy to captivate a larger audience without losing profits, will begin with the countries of Mexico and Spain, starting November 1 of this year, at 11:00 am CDMX time.
This new subscription option, which is "the cheapest Netflix plan with advertising breaks", will cost $ 99 pesos per month in the Mexican territory.
According to an official press release from the entertainment company, this plan will be available in twelve countries, which are Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Korea, Spain, the United Kingdom and the United States.

In the same way, the company assured that there will be no changes for customers and other current plans, since the "Basic with ads complements our current offer of plans without ads, which includes: Basic, Standard and Premium."
What's new in this offer
So, what does not change from this type of subscription, compared to what Netflix previously offered, is access to series and movies, personalized viewing experience, availability of viewing from TV and mobile devices, as well as changing or canceling the plan at any time.
What will be different is that the video quality will be up to 720p / HD, will have an average of 4 to 5 minutes of ads per hour and will not allow the download of content. In that line of ideas, as indicated by the company "some series and movies will not be available due to licensing restrictions (in which we are working) and content cannot be downloaded."
Benefits for advertisers
On the other hand, according to Netflix, its "basic ad-supported" plan represents an excellent opportunity for advertisers. "They now have the ability to reach a diverse audience — including younger viewers, who are watching less and less traditional TV — in a best-in-class environment with an optimal, high-resolution ad experience."
The format of this offer is that, at least at this time of launch, each ad will have a duration of 15 to 30 seconds, which will be played before and in the intermissions of series and movies. They also offer country and gender targeting options, as well as verification tools (DoubleVerify and Integral Ad Science) to confirm the viewing level and traffic validity of these ads, starting in the first quarter of 2023.

Netflix concluded: "While this is just the beginning, we're pleased with the interest shown by the public and the advertiser community, and we're looking forward to what's to come. As we learn from the experience so we can improve it, we hope the plan will be available in more countries."
