Argentina. Enacom inaugurated the new headquarters of the Postal, Telegraphic and Telecommunications Museum that has pieces of inestimable value and that can be visited for free from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at its headquarters in Ingeniero Huergo 1497 (CABA).
Among the most significant elements of the collection can be seen the notary that belonged to Bernardino Rivadavia, a desk used by Domingo Faustino Sarmiento, as well as telegraphic equipment from 1900, chests for correspondence from the late eighteenth century, telephone devices from all eras, pioneering television cameras and a telephone booth from the mid-twentieth century adapted in interactive format to access the history of communications.
In the framework of the inauguration, the president of Enacom, Silvana Giudici, said she felt "proud to be able to give a definitive place to all this valuable historical heritage of Argentines that deserved neither oblivion nor indifference."
For his part, the Deputy Chief of Staff present at the event, Andrés Ibarra, said: "There is no doubt that the world faces a true digital revolution. Faced with this, from the National Government we are facing a fundamental transformation with a focus on the growth and development of Argentina, a path of which telecommunications are an essential part. We celebrate that there is an educational space to value their history."
The Postal and Telegraphic Museum "Dr Ramón J. Cárcano" was founded in 1888, while the Telecommunications Museum was created by the defunct ENTel in 1975.
From now on, both institutions have their place at the request of Enacom, after in 2009, at a time when the Palacio de Correos y Telégrafos became the headquarters of the CCK, the collections suffered the ups and downs of several moves without having a definitive headquarters.
The Museum will be open to be visited by school delegations that register in a timely manner to complete a guided tour of its facilities.
