Colombia. Cinemotion Labs, the meeting specialized in technology, innovation and audiovisual production, announced the Cinemotion Labs Short Film Contest & Short Film Festival 2026, an experience that will challenge filmmakers, students and professionals in the sector to develop, record and edit an audiovisual production of a maximum of 60 seconds during August 11 and 12 at the Telemedellín facilities.
Organized jointly with the Medellín Short Film Festival, the contest seeks to promote creativity, collaborative work and the narrative capacity of the participants through an intensive production challenge. The teams, made up of between three and five people, must create a completely original work during the official time of the challenge, which will be evaluated by a jury made up of renowned professionals from the audiovisual industry.
The participating productions will be screened during the official programming of Cinemotion Labs and the selected ones will also be part of the closing ceremony and awards ceremony of the Medellín 2026 Short Film Festival. The initiative also has the support of Zapata Filmes and the Colombian Association of Directors of Photography (ADFC), allies that strengthen the artistic and professional component of the contest.
"We want Cinemotion Labs to be much more than a space to learn about new technologies. We want attendees to live the experience of creating, experimenting and demonstrating their talent in an environment that reflects the real dynamics of an audiovisual production. This contest represents an opportunity for new stories to reach the screen and to connect filmmakers with the industry," said Veronica Marin, Project Manager of Cinemotion Labs.
Registration will be open until August 10, 2026 at 8:00 p.m. Interested teams must register in advance and submit a brief synopsis of their audiovisual proposal. The winning team will receive the official statuette of the contest, a certificate of recognition and a tribute during the award ceremony of the Medellín 2026 Short Film Festival.
