The industry is transforming

The transformation of the broadcast industry does not only go through the constant technological developments for the production and post-production of television that offer a better quality of audio and video, and in the new forms of content consumption.

Today the world is more visual. More and more people and sectors outside of television are looking to take advantage of the benefits offered by video content. Among others, education, cults, the military and large corporations stand out.

This transformation is also lived from the language. The definition of television as it is traditionally known, seems to have fallen short of the new possibilities offered by technology, opening space to  definitions focused on an audiovisual world.

All these changes, which a couple of years ago were seen in the distant future, today are a reality to which the industry is looking for how to adapt and get the best out of it. It is much more tangible when iconic companies of the broadcast industry such as Sony, announce their opening to reach many more sectors with professional video solutions.

And they are confirmed when for the next NAB Show, special venues aimed at people and new media technology are announced, as well as several conference sessions that seek to analyze the new realities of the industry.

Now, there are several questions that remain in the pending answer. How will the content be monetized? Are Latin American broadcasters aware of these realities? Are they preparing to take advantage of them? Will television disappear as it is currently known?

Finally, I want to extend the invitation to the professionals from Latin  America who will be present in Las Vegas, to attend the Cocktail that will be held by TVyVideo magazine in partnership with NAB on Tuesday, April 14. The event, which has become a meeting place for colleagues and friends from the region, will be held on the second floor of the south pavilion at 6:15 p.m.

I look forward to your feedback on the industry in [email protected]
