Haivision has launched its new Torpedo device, which is part of a family of DVB-to-IP decoders capable of extracting the MPEG-2 signal from an RF DVB transmission from a terrestrial or satellite antenna and transmitting it through an Ethernet interface. This device can process standard definition (SD) and high definition (HD), as well as DVB-S2 satellite and DVB-T terrestrial signals. Soon it will also support DVB-T2, a new format for the terrestrial signal, the company announced.
A single Torpedo is sufficient to broadcast satellite television and radio services to a group of viewers over standard IP video networks; it can also be integrated into an IP Furnace video system, for comprehensive control of all devices.
