United States - Latin America. In the 89th version of the NAB Show, Sony will present several products for the national and international industry. The company will exhibit a line of equipment intended for companies in the television industry in Latin American countries, which will have among its novelties the cost, which will be between 30% and 40% lower than the current line.
In the line for Latin America two new teams are equalized. The first is the XDCAM HD 4:2:2 PDW-680 camcorder, which uses a state-of-the-art 2/3" EXMOR CMOS sensor and incorporates the main functions of the industry-standard PDW-700 unit, except for progressive recording formats. The unit is switchable between 50i/60i and includes DVCAM recording as well as 35 Mbps 4:2:0 and 50 Mbps 4:2:2 XDCAM HD recording.
Andrew Nelles, senior product manager at Sony Psla, said: "The camcorder will be very well accepted given that many of our customers have incorporated XDCAM systems into their stations.
The second product is the HD 4:2:2 PDW-HD 1200 studio deck. It offers standard interlaced recording and DVCAM recording to provide a smooth migration from SD to HD. Both the PDW-680 and PDW-HD1200 can play progressive recordings.
This is a particularly important feature for the PDW-HD1200 because it can be used as an economical "on-air" deck to play the entire XDCAM portfolio on a station broadcasting recordings made on single-layer and dual-layer Professional Disc media.
Sony reported that the PDW-680 will be available on the market by the end of April and the launch of the PDW-HD1200 unit is scheduled for June.
At the Sony stand we will also find three other novelties for this first half of 2012.
The NXCAM product line features a new NEX-FS700 Full HD Super Slow Motion camcorder, which is part of Sony's line of interchangeable lens and E-mount cameras.
The new 35mm equipment has been created to take high-speed shots and capture frames at a speed of up to 960 frames per second. It features 3G HD-SDI output and built-in ND filters, and offers a flexible production tool that can be easily adapted to a wide range of photographic applications. It should be noted that this device allows you to record Full HD images at high speed and also offers the flexibility of interchangeable lenses to enjoy greater creative freedom. It is ideal to be used in recordings of music videos, television programs, commercials, documentaries and sports productions.
The camera offers Full HD quality at 120 and 240 frames per second in 16/8 second burst mode, respectively and also supports capturing images at a frequency of 480 fps and 960 fps with lower resolution and a faster frame rate.
The other product in the NXCAM series, the compact, palm-sized HXR-NX30N camcorder, features Balanced Optical SteadyShot™ image stabilization technology, making it ideal for eliminating camera shake in challenging recording environments.
This device offers built-in projector and is ideal for extremely versatile field productions. It has been created to record documentaries, journalistic videos, to be used in schools, companies and telephoto recordings with the camera in hand.
The NX30 records in Full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 using a Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T* lens (35mm equivalent: 26.0mm -260mm), achieving optical quality, sharpness and brightness. It features an internal memory of 96GB (approximately 40 hours of HD content) and a dual slot that accepts SD cards or Memory Stick to offer additional recording capability.
The company expects NXCAM equipment to be available from June 2012.
Also presented is the new handheld camcorder XDCAM HD422 PMW-100, the most compact and lightweight equipment in the XDCAM line. It records professional-quality MPEG HD422 video in a handheld format. It is equipped with the 1/2.9-inch "Exmor" CMOS sensor, offers image performance and also achieves a minimum illumination of 0.08lx.
