4K is the goal of broadcasters in Latin America

Latin America. Adding to the trend of the main broadcasters globally, in Latin America there is a notorious trend to incorporate 4K and HDR (High Dynamic Range) technologies into their transmissions and productions, said Glen Green, regional manager for Latin America of AJA Video Systems.

"4K is starting. In some parts of Latin America it's already popular, because I think broadcasters are already waiting to broadcast in 4K. I think that in post-production 4K will continue to grow. HDR will take the place of 4K in broadcasters. 4K in Brazil and Mexico is popular; in Argentina and Colombia it is popular in production," he said.

Much of the company's growth in the region is based on this type of development, which is beneficial for the company, Green said. "Everything will continue to grow as we have made many changes, changing the distribution model all last year. We are changing the distribution spaces and this year we will do it even more. We know that all over the world there are changes and economic problems, but we are still busy. Mexico was our best market in Latin America last year."

AJA recently showed its solutions to Mexican customers the company's solutions during Expo Cine, TV and Video. "The highlight is the Ki Pro Line which now has a quad connector that can record four simultaneous independent videos in 1080p at 60 frames in HD, or on a single channel in 4K, as well as in different codecs. We show the HELO, which is a streaming device to which we have added a new software -which we present at NAB- as well as support for Facebook. We also have our RovoCam, which are two years old that support the 4K format, and we are bringing them not only available for recording but for streaming as well," said the executive.
