Peru. The Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) through the General Directorate of Control and Supervision of Communications (DGCSC) acquires state-of-the-art equipment that will allow it to combat piracy in radio and television.
Javier Coronado Saleh, Deputy Minister of Communications of the MTC, accompanied by Lorenzo Orrego Luna, director of the DGCSC, explained that the sector has a Radio Spectrum Management System that is currently being modernized and expanding its geographical scope and operational capacity with the incorporation of specialized equipment for technical monitoring, monitoring, signal analysis, goniometry and localization.
The current system includes the implementation of 15 fixed stations in an equal number of cities and additionally Lima, 15 remote mobile units and transportable equipment that allows wide mobility in the control of the radio space at the national level.
He stressed that this will make it possible to combat piracy in radio and television, detecting people who provide telecommunications services under technical conditions other than those established by the Ministry or, without the corresponding concession, authorization, permit or license.
"The MTC, in addition to having acquired state-of-the-art equipment, has been modifying its procedures that allow better control of the radio electric space since this is a natural resource of the State that is scarce and must be well managed and avoid interference to public and private services," Said Coronado.
It pointed out that services such as mobile telephony, aeronautical communications, communications of emergency response entities, broadcasting services in general (TV, FM Radio, etc.) require that their signals be free of disturbances and interferences.
Interference causes harm
The MTC pointed out that interference caused by pirate signals in the case of airports puts at risk airworthiness and communications between aircraft and airports, and can cause serious accidents.
They prevent the communication of the PNP, CGBCVP, Municipalities causing damage to the Citizen Security Systems deployed.
Mobile phone systems cause poor reception, unnecessary cuts and reducing the ability to receive value-added services such as mobile internet.
To normal broadcasters, by producing interference that affects several stations at the same time, and by working illegally causing, among others, unfair competition.
Likewise, illegal stations do not pay the corresponding copyright, right of signal uses, taxes to the SUNAT and the ability of users to complain about a bad service is null.
