International. Blackmagic Design announced that version 12.1 of DaVinci Resolve is now available, offering new features such as remote rendering, 10-bit image viewing, and other advanced editing and color grading tools. All users of DaVinci Resolve 12 and DaVinci Resolve 12 Studio can download it from the company's website.
DaVinci Resolve 12 has been the most important update to this tool since its inception and has become the fastest growing editing program in the industry. Since user feedback has been extremely positive, Blackmagic Design engineers have strived to add more features than publishers and colorists have requested.
This update allows editors to select clips when using the cutter, extend the duration of still images, and use dimmers for titles and effect generators, as well as assign a negative compensation value to ensure timecode synchronization. On the other hand, it offers the possibility to filter clips more efficiently, manage groups of selected sequences within the timeline, organize folders and multimedia files with ease and create better filters when searching smart folders, among other functions. Users can also benefit from increased support for Final Cut Pro 7 XML files and optimization in the rendering of audio transitions.
On the other hand, DaVinci Resolve 12.1 offers colorists the advantage of grading nested timelines, separating composite nodes, assigning keyframes when using Power Windows, using version 0.25 of files containing stereoscopic decision lists (SDLs), and filtering clips that include keyframes, as well as the ability to copy labels and markers with the ColorTrace function.
Additionally, this free update provides support for the screen profiles available in the Mac OS X El Capitan operating system and offers the option to display 10-bit images. In this way, users using the new iMac devices with Retina display (P3) will be able to enjoy a greater chromatic richness, a higher level of detail and an unprecedented dynamic range.
