Colombia. The Colombian capital received the demonstration of a vehicle equipped with video surveillance cameras whose images are displayed live from a central located in another place. The new system allows police and other operators to access video from cameras installed on buses and trains, accompanying the events as they occur.
The system is a combination of digital cameras from the Swedish manufacturer Axis Communications with radios for the transmission of images over the air manufactured by the Israeli company Radwin. The event was organized by Network1, distributor in Colombia of both brands. The wireless transmission technology for the Transport sector is called Fiberinmotion, and the Full HD cameras are resistant to tremors and shocks.
The event was attended by experts from Radwin and Axis in on-the-go safety solutions – one of the world's leading trends in terms of mass transport safety.
A global survey of organizations linked to public transport, conducted by the International Association of Public Transport (AITP) and Axis Communications, and released last week, noted that 80% of organizations already have cameras inside vehicles, which generates greater safety for users. But only 28% of respondents already view these cameras live.
"The possibility of detecting incidents involving passengers and service personnel in real time is recognized as a new market trend, and we are proposing to present how that works for the Colombian market," said Andrei Junqueira, Axis' New Business Manager.
