Latin America. A handheld camera should allow you to reach narrow places, move along with talent, record from high and low angles with the same agility. In addition, a portable camera should work perfectly against the chest or over the shoulder, comfortably stabilized with the right hand, with the controls at the reach of that hand. Sony's new PXW-FS5 camera achieves this, and more.
The FS5 camera is a new creation developed from the FS7, with the ability to capture in the most demanding conditions. With a structure that weighs half that of the FS7 (0.8 kg), it allows you to capture images virtually anywhere. The ability to operate it by hand is thanks to the balanced chassis that is easily configured to record from high or low angles, thanks to the flexible and rotating grip handle and the LCD viewfinder that can be placed in at least nine different locations.
If you're outdoors, you won't want to waste time or miss any opportunities. The FS5 allows you to add or remove components, such as the grip handle or lcd viewfinder, quickly and without the need for special tools, while the 1/4-inch screw holes allow the camcorder to be installed on drones, gimbals or submersible housings.
Get the most out of the FS5 camera's Exmor Super 35 sensor and record 4K images at 100Mbps (3840 x 2160) using Sony's XAVC Advanced Recording System (Long GOP). In the future, the possibility of recording images in RAW format externally will also be offered. If you need a fast response time, switch to Full HD (1920x1080) recording up to 10-bit XAVC 60p with 4:2:2 sampling, at a rate of 50Mbps. The FS5 has the flexibility to adapt to any mode of work, current or future.
High frame rate recordings allow you to turn everyday actions into slow-motion scenes, and the FS5 delivers an incredible 240 frames per second (fps) in Full HD XAVC 4:2:2 10-bit. at the standard cinema speed of 24fps, you'll get a beautiful 10x super slow motion effect. There are no compromises on bit depth and no access to a portion of the sensor image ("windowing"). Therefore, there are no cuts or losses in the angle of view.
Sony's α-mount system offers compatibility with third-party lenses. The E-mount offered by the FS5 camera can incorporate cinema and SLR lenses with adapters from other brands, as well as Sony's A-mount and E-mount lenses. So whether you buy new lenses or use the ones you already have, the FS5 camera will make it all easy.
