International. UltraStudio 4K Extreme is the Thunderbolt, PCIe and playback video capture solution that Blackmagic Design has just launched. It is designed to work with the highest quality and highest video frame rate, all the way up to 4K stereoscopic 3D at 2160p60.
It is the world's first Thunderbolt-based solution with advanced 12G-SDI technology for capturing and playing high-frame rate Ultra HD and 4K video, devices up to 2160p60. It supports virtually all SD, HD, HD Ultra and 4K formats and frame rate, both YUV and RGB color.
UltraStudio 4K Extreme also includes a built-in multi-format codec hardware that enables the capture of H.265 files, which is becoming the compression standard for distributing Ultra HD content online. The demand for content encoded in the H.265 format will become more than customers demand high-quality Ultra HD content from the latest TVs they are buying today.
Designed to be used on a desk, or installed in the racks of the equipment, UltraStudio 4K Extreme features an attractive, machined aluminum front panel with a display and integrated color buttons for quick selection of video input sources, audio, timecode and cover control. The rear panel includes virtually every type of video and audio connection out there, including 12G-SDI, HDMI 2.0, analog component and composite video, balanced XLR and AES/EBU digital audio and more.
Customers will be able to capture and play Ultra HD in YUV at 60 frames per second, as well as Ultra HD and 4K RGB video at 30 frames per second via advanced 12G-SDI video connections.
