Latin America. Two new cameras for 4K recording were the ones that Sony presented to the market. The first is the PXW-Z100, a professional XDCAM 4K handheld camcorder with 1/2.3-inch Exmor R CMOS sensor.
The new camcorder marks Sony's latest step in expanding the 4K world for everyone from high-end cinema to entry-level productions; ideal for creating 4K (4096x2160) content at 50fps or 60fps. The PXW-Z100, along with the 4K-compatible high-performance fixed G lens, weighs less than 3kg.
It uses the XAVC recording format. As with the F55, it is possible to record in 4K (4096 x 2160, 50fps or 60fps, 4:2:2, Intraphotogram, 10-bit recording in MXF file format) at a high bitrate of 500Mbps or 600Mbps. QFHD (3840x2160) and HD (1920x1080) resolutions can also be selected, both compatible with most 4K TVs.
Since the PXW-Z100 camcorder is based on the same shooting principles as a conventional professional handheld camcorder, it is possible to record 4K content with minimal work equipment. Also during editing, the downstream conversion from 4K to HD provides a new possibility for the production of HD content.
The PXW-Z100 camcorder will be available from November 2013 via Sony's authorized channels.
Sony's second side-by-side release is the new Handycam FDR-AX1, which supports 4K home videos. The FDR-AX1 camcorder records QFHD (3840 x 2160) in the XAVC S. Home Use format Uses 4:2:0, Long GOP and MP4 file format.
Among its features are the 4K recording (4096x2160) at 50fps or 60fps; XAVC recording format at 4K 50fps/60fps, 4:2:2 10-bit at 500/600Mbps, HD up to a maximum of 223Mbps; recording with XQD memory card, a new standard in solid-state memory; HDMI interface for 4K output and 3G HD-SDI interface for HD output; Paint function for greater creative freedom and remote control with Wi-Fi.
