Latin America. To present its new video cameras under 4K technology, of references F55 and F5, Sony asked three production companies to make videos under this technology with their new equipment.
Andrew Nelles, Senior Marketing Manager of Digital Cinematography at Sony PSLA, commented that "Whether our customers work with 4K/2K Raw files or with 2k/4K HD video files, we have been working with a number of NLE/DI/color grading related solution manufacturers to have the workflow ready when we launch these products in February."
In an event called "The Future Ahead of Schedule", held on the set of Sony Pictures Entertainment, the videos made by the three companies were presented to an audience made up of industry professionals.
Tribeca Enterprises, in collaboration with leading writers and producers, made "7x6x2," a short film shot in very low-light situations, in slow motion, and a wide variety of shots that tested the camera's capabilities.
For its part, the USC School of Cinematic Arts made two productions. One is "Safety Zone," a chase comedy shot in the bright Southern California sunlight, and "The Contract," a drama shot at night that included the interior of a car illuminated by the lights of Wilshire Boulevard. These two pieces highlight the range of capabilities of the cameras, and the flexibility and performance they can offer in natural settings.
The latest short film was shot by Sam Nicholson, ASC, and Stargate Studios, who for their production traveled to Sri Lanka and left as a result "Mahout", the story of an orphan girl who helps an elephant cub escape from an abusive owner and return to his herd in its natural habitat, for which they had to record with high humidity levels and unpredictable weather.
The F55 and F5 cameras, which were announced last October, will be available on the market from February.
