International. A high-performance handheld camcorder and the SxS portable memory recorder are the two new products that the Sony company introduced to complement its XDCAM HD422 line.
The PMW-160 reference camcorder is equipped with a 20x zoom lens with a focal length of 29.5-590mm (equivalent to 35mm). The lens is equipped with three independent focus rings, zoom and iris adjustment with full manual control and an image stabilization function with a lens shift mechanism.
It is equipped with three 1/3-inch ExmorTM Full HD CMOS sensors with high sensitivity and low noise compared to the other 1/3-inch camcorders. In addition, it has built-in four-position ND filters (Claro, 1: 1/4, 2: 1/16, 3: 1/64) and the Slow & Quick Motion function that allows you to shoot 1 fps at 60 fps in 720p mode, and 1 fps at 30 fps in 1080p mode.
The camera records SxS cards and a variety of inexpensive media such as SDHC, Memory Stick and the new XQD cards with the available adapters. It can be used for a wide variety of applications in broadcasting stations, production companies, educational, corporate, journalistic recordings, among others.
For its part, the portable memory recorder SxS PMW-50 is very useful in the field for video productions in XDCAM HD422 format. It allows users to play and view content (via a 3.5-inch LCD panel) recorded on an SxS memory card, copying data saved on an SxS card to other storage devices.
It is very useful for XDCAM operations in combination with PMW-100/150/200/500 camcorders for greater convenience and efficiency, with support for all related formats including MPEG HD422 50Mbps (MXF) and MPEG HD420 35Mbps (MP4) as well as standard definition DVCAM.
The company highlighted that the XDCAM HD422 format is gaining more and more acceptance especially in television broadcast operations thanks to its established workflow and incredible image quality. These products will be available on the market from December.
