Colombia. The lack of clear technical regulations in the country for manufacturers of digital television equipment under the DVB T2 model chosen by Colombia last December, came to the fore during the talk given by Carlos Rebellón, director of the Communications Regulation Commission in the forum "Future of closed television in Colombia".
The executive explained that there is a gap in the process of adoption of digital television in technical matters, which directly affects equipment manufacturers and installers, because although there is a macro regulation, there are no technical specifications that indicate how they should work in this field and that is necessary due to the multiple forms that exist.
Until April, the National Television Commission was the entity in charge of regulating this issue. But after its elimination and the distribution of functions between the National Television Authority and the Communications Regulation Commission, the discussion is just beginning.
"We received from the National Television Commission the files that it had advanced on the subject, but we only found memories of the cooperation that the European Union has given to the process, nothing more," said Carlos Rebellón.
Therefore, the National Television Authority and the Communications Regulation Commission are currently analyzing international regulations on this issue and hope to publish the regulations before the end of this year.
The forum "Future of closed television in Colombia", which was held in Bogotá, was attended by more than 200 people, most of them representatives of community channels from all over the country.
