Colombia. A 20% increase in the resources allocated to public television operators, an execution percentage of 83% taking into account all the regulatory projects addressed and 72 visits by Surveillance and Control to different operators, are some of the numbers in the balance of the 2013 management of the National Television Authority.
These activities were framed in the strategic agenda of 2013, which included twenty-five points. In relation to the regulatory projects carried out by the ANTV during 2013, eight projects were successfully carried out.
For 2014, the entity's strategic agenda established four lines of action: Greater competition and better quality, Promotion and production of content, Greater access and Surveillance and Control; under which 20 strategic activities will be carried out.
Among the topics they will address are: Formulation of a new Public Television Policy in Colombia, seeking the opening of television with greater competition and better quality. They will also review and update the regulatory framework regarding content.
Another important point on the ANTV's agenda for the coming year is the implementation of Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) in Colombia and follow-up on the transition with a view to digital switch-on.
Among the activities that will be carried out at this point are the definition of the regulatory public policy for DTT, the definition of the spectrum allocation plan, the development of the DTT pilot plan, the planning of the transition process, regulatory technical aspects, communication strategy on the implementation of DTT and analysis of the ANTV position on the production of content for DTT.
