Brazil. The Brazilian audiovisual market is in a period of consolidation and technical maturation. In this context, Pinnacle Academy emerges, an initiative of the Pinnacle Group in collaboration with the manufacturer Blackmagic Design, which proposes a new event format: less talk and more practice, less exhibition and more exchange of knowledge.
The first edition, held in 2026, brought together experienced professionals, new talents and representatives of the industry's leading brands in an environment prepared for real film productions, with live demonstrations and complete workflows.
And the best part: it was completely free, sponsored by the Pinnacle Group's partner factories and local entities that support this project, such as Full Cine and ESPC (São Paulo Film School).
Market context and technological leadership
The event was given by Fabio Angelini, commercial director of the Pinnacle Group and official ambassador of Blackmagic Design in Brazil. During the inauguration, Angelini contextualized the positive moment that Brazilian cinema is experiencing and highlighted the role of access to technology as a growth engine for the sector.
"After winning two awards at the 2026 Golden Globes and now on track for the Oscars with a new record of five nominations, this shows that the Brazilian film market is more vibrant than ever, and I believe that, from now on, we will have more winning productions, with new names and new talents who will be able to make their productions with more accessible high-quality equipment. This is the concept of Blackmagic Design," commented Fabio Angelini.
The first edition of the Pinnacle Academy was dedicated exclusively to Blackmagic Design film cameras. Participants had direct contact with equipment such as the Pocket Cinema Camera 4K, the URSA Mini Pro 12K, the PYXIS 6K and 12K, as well as the URSA Cine 12K LF and the URSA Cine 17K 65.
"Access to high-quality equipment is crucial for the training of new talents and the competitiveness of Brazilian cinema," Angelini said during his presentation.
In addition to learning about the main features and advantages of Blackmagic Design cameras, the participants learned about the MEIKE line of fixed lenses, the new brand that the Pinnacle Group is introducing to the Latin American market, and also the famous Anton Bauer batteries, which are returning to the market with more competitive prices!
Cinematography, sensors and visual language
One of the most technical moments of the Pinnacle Academy was the hands-on class taught by cinematographer Alziro Barbosa. In a didactic way, he presented the differences between 16 mm, Super 35, Full Frame and 65 mm sensors, demonstrating their direct impact on the aesthetics, narrative and creative decisions of each production.
Another highlight was the participation of Saul Henrique, director and content creator, who presented a contemporary perspective of audiovisual production, connecting traditional cinema, streaming and digital creation. Saul shared his hands-on experience with the PYXIS 6K and 12K cameras and discussed the technological evolution of Blackmagic Design.
Post-production, intelligent workflow and immersive experience
Post-production was critical at Pinnacle Academy. Participants attended presentations by Leandro Lameze and Cristiano Moura, leading experts in the professional use of DaVinci Resolve. Advanced color correction workflows, remote collaboration, and Blackmagic Cloud integration were addressed.
Hands-on activities were projected in real-time on an 8K LED panel in the Full Cine studio, creating an immersive experience similar to the routine of a real film production. The participants also took a technical tour of the Full Cine complex, which includes a room equipped with HDR projection technologies and a Dolby Atmos sound system, whose demonstration was in charge of the music producer Rubinho Carvalho.
The next edition of the Pinnacle Academy is scheduled for Belo Horizonte, coinciding with the Southeast Regional SET and being part of the next edition of the Blackmagic Tour Brazil.
