Latin America. CinemotionLabs is the new scenario that connects technology and training for film production and post-production in Latin America, organized by TVyVideo+Radio and LatinPress Inc. In its first edition, it will be held in Medellín, Colombia, during the month of August 2026.
CinemotionLabs will have the presence of important brands that will showcase their technology for film production and post-production operating. One of them is Sony.
In conversation with TVyVideo+Radio, Gonzalo Gamio, pointed out that "At Sony we see Latin America as a region in full creative and technical maturation. Today there is a very powerful combination of talent, local storytelling with global projection and an increasingly rapid adoption of high-level production technologies."
He added that countries such as Mexico, Brazil, Colombia, Argentina and Chile stand out not only for production volume, but also for the sophistication of their workflows, the growth of studios, and their ability to attract international projects.
"The interesting thing is that we are no longer talking only about quantity, but about cinematographic quality, visual ambition and a clear intention to compete in global standards," he said.
For Gonzalo Gamio, Colombia has established itself as one of the most dynamic creative hubs in the region, with an industry that combines experience, new generations of creators and a strong vocation for innovation.
In this sense, "linking ourselves to CinemotionLabs from the first edition of this event is a natural way to accompany this growth, supporting spaces where filmmakers, technicians, production houses and new technologies converge. We firmly believe in being close to the industry, not only as technology providers, but as strategic allies that promote the evolution of audiovisual language and new production models."
Attendees at CinemotionLabs will be able to learn first-hand how Sony is approaching current film production from a comprehensive vision: camera, image, workflow and new forms of production such as virtual production.
"Beyond showing technology, our participation seeks to generate conversation, share real learnings from the industry and show how a well-integrated ecosystem can enhance creativity, optimize times and raise the visual standard of productions. The idea is that those who attend leave inspired, with a clearer vision of where the industry is going and how these tools can be adapted to different types of projects, from independent productions to large-scale content," said Gonzalo Gamio.
CinemotionLabs will be held on August 11 and 12, 2026 in studio 2 of the Telemedellín channel.
