Colombia. With the official opening of this year's call for proposals from the Film Development Fund - FDC, a wide range of opportunities for the audiovisual sector are renewed. This year they will be able to access the Automatic Incentives and the Contest Incentives.
In this framework, the National Council of Arts and Culture in Cinematography - CNACC has implemented strategic decisions in the guidelines of the call, aimed at strengthening its efficiency and impact.
In the modality of Promotion of feature films and performance by box office, key decisions were adopted in order to ensure greater coherence between the type of release of Colombian films and the non-refundable incentives offered by the FDC.
It was a priority to maintain automatic incentives for the promotion of feature films in their premiere in movie theaters, in order to support all films that are in this stage. In this context, adjustments were made to the amounts assigned to the different lines of participation, the conditions of access were simplified and criteria such as the previous experience of the distributor, the number of exhibitions in cultural spaces and the minimum number of spectators required to access the incentive were reviewed. In addition, the deadline for the accumulation of spectators was extended, which went from four to five months.
For participation in film events: festivals, workshops and meetings, priority was given to increasing the value of each stimulus, understanding the need to strengthen the presence of our projects, films and talents in international film spaces.
Regarding the support for participation in film markets, the CNACC determines that, in order to increase the impact of the participation of producers in various scenarios and optimize the use of FDC resources, the irrigation of these will be carried out through the formation of delegations of producers to events that are prioritized by the Council for 2026 as part of the Comprehensive Plan for the International Promotion of Colombian Cinema 2026-2027 (see Pantalla Colombia 1269). therefore, they are not included in the call for Automatic Incentives as in previous years.
The selection in strategic markets is based on the history of participation of the Colombian sector, reflected in the FDC's automatic incentives, and seeks to strengthen the national presence in spaces where creators and producers have had a constant participation, such as Guadalajara, Cannes, ImagiNATIVE, MIFA de Annecy, Toronto, San Sebastián, Sitges, IDFA and Ventana Sur. The mechanism for the nomination and assignment of these delegations will be published in February of this year.
As part of its strategy to expand the impact of Colombian films in the country, the FDC 2026 Call includes specific incentives to support the distribution of feature films that reach a minimum number of spectators in movie theaters, as well as the circulation of Colombian film packages throughout the year.
In addition, the CNACC allowed an increase in the incentives for the circulation of films in exhibitions and festivals. In this first phase, the call offers six types of Automatic Incentives, open until December 11, and two types of Competitive Incentives, with a closing date of February 5.
In this sense, the call contemplates an investment distributed as follows: For the Circulation of Colombian films through film exhibitions and festivals, $1,062,000,000 will be allocated, while the Distribution of packages of Colombian films will have $390,000,000. In turn, the distribution of Colombian films will receive $260,000,000. The modality with the highest allocation corresponds to the Promotion of feature films and performance by box office, with a total of $3,620,000,000. Finally, Participation in events such as festivals, workshops, meetings and film awards will have $1,020,000,000.
