Colombia. With the presence of the President of the Republic, Gustavo Petro Urrego, and the Minister of ICT, Carina Murcia Yela, the modernization of RTVC's studios in Leticia was launched.
This project had a budget of $2,708,436,834, financed with resources from the Ministry of ICT and RTVC, which will allow the creation of local content with first-class technology. Thanks to this investment, a new radio broadcasting studio was installed, making it possible for Leticia to have, for the first time, decentralized studios.
"We enabled a state-of-the-art infrastructure that guarantees the fundamental right to information of our ethnic communities. This technical modernization, achieved as a team with RTVC, is the reflection of a government that transforms the territories by connecting people with dignity and cutting-edge technology. Today begins a new story for public radio in the Amazon," said ICT Minister Carina Murcia.
For his part, the manager of RTVC, Hollman Morris, stressed that this entity has already fulfilled 100% of the commitments agreed for them in the Peace Agreement, and stressed that, thanks to these studies, the Amazon will have a voice, it will not have to be interpreted from the centers of power.
Fiber optics in the Amazon
The conference served to talk about the progress of the fiber optic project to connect the Amazon from Brazil, linking Tabatinga with Leticia, to radiate high-speed connectivity to Putumayo and the south of the country from there.
In addition, it will turn the region into an axis of connectivity and data transmission, linking the submarine cables that reach the Atlantic and the Pacific. This project represents a paradigm shift in the country's digital sovereignty.
