Sony promotes content creation in virtual spaces

Sony impulsa creación de contenido en espacios virtuales

Latin America. Sony launched XYN, an integrated hardware and software solution designed to support content creation in virtual spaces. With support for a wide variety of third-party tools, this solution offers flexible workflows.

Leveraging Sony's unique imaging, sensing and visualization technologies, XYN accurately captures real-world objects, human movement and backgrounds and recreates them in virtual environments for 3D computer (CG) graphics production.

As the merging of the real and virtual worlds accelerates and the demand for 3D computer graphics production for film, animation, gaming, and industrial design continues to rise, XYN will support the intuitive and efficient creation of content in virtual spaces for a diverse variety of creators. Through the XYN solution, Sony will be able to collaborate with a variety of creators to develop innovative content for the future.

XYN Integrated Hardware and Software Solution
● XYN Motion Studio
XYN Motion Studio is a PC application that supports connection with 12 "mocopi®" sensors and uses unique Sony algorithms to achieve automatic motion interpolation and auto-tagging features that enhance the creative use of motion data. This app will be available by the end of March 2025.

The mobile motion capture system "mocopi" has been used by VTubers and users of virtual reality (VR) social platforms, as well as for film, animation and gaming productions. The new XYN Motion Studio app improves accuracy by connecting with 12 sensors via dedicated receivers (professional mode). In addition, this app incorporates new features for editing and motion data, making capture more affordable and accessible for creators of various genres.

●XYN Space Capture Solution (Prototype)
The XYN space capture solution will enable real-world objects and spaces to be converted into high-quality, photorealistic 3D computer graphics assets, based on images captured by mirrorless cameras and proprietary algorithms. In addition, a prototype of a mobile application that visualizes the capture conditions of the mirrorless camera in real time is being developed. This will streamline the 3D computer graphics production workflow for film, gaming, virtual production, and the metaverse for objects such as props, items, and backgrounds of virtual spaces.

● "XYN Headset" (prototype)
The "XYN headset" is an immersive system for creating content in virtual spaces, equipped with high-quality 4K OLED microscreens and the VST (video see-through) function, optimized to achieve intuitive creative work in the generation of content in virtual spaces. The headset will support various 3D production software, including 3D character preview and modeling, not only in the field of industrial design but also in entertainment. In addition, this prototype is being used to conduct a proof-of-concept experiment with Sony Pictures Animation.

Experience the XYN world at Sony's booth at CES® 2025, which will be held in Las Vegas, United States from January 7 to 10 (local time in the United States).
