Peru. In order to provide broadcasters with clear guidelines that simplify the operation and implementation of digital television in the country, the Ministry of Transport and Communications, MTC, published the Draft Ministerial Resolution that modifies Ministerial Resolution No. 358-2003-MTC/03, which regulates the Technical Standards of the Broadcasting Service.
This initiative is based on the technical recommendations of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the documents of the ISDB-T standard, adopted by Peru for Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT).
The proposed changes cover key aspects such as transmission, the operation of DTT retransmitters, protection ratios, minimum field strength, operating modes, among others. In addition, it updates provisions relating to sound broadcasting stations, with the aim of modernising and adapting the regulations to technological advances.
"With this draft regulation, we reaffirm our commitment to promote the development of broadcasting services in the country. This update not only seeks to facilitate the transition to digital television, but also to optimize the management of the radio spectrum to guarantee a quality, accessible service that benefits both broadcasters and citizens," said the Deputy Minister of Communications, Carla Sosa Vela.
