Peru. Lima and Callao, considered as Territory 1, according to the Master Plan for the Implementation of Digital Terrestrial Television, DTT, is advancing and there are more and more radio broadcasters that transmit their content free of charge in high definition, surround sound and a greater variety of programming.
As is known, according to the schedule established in the Master Plan, it is expected that after December 31 of this year, as far as Lima and Callao are concerned, it will be transmitted only through the DTT digital terrestrial signal. In other words, the transmission of television signals with analogue technology will cease and there will be what is popularly known as the long-awaited "analogue blackout".
It should be noted that, to date, there are 23 stations in Territory 1 transmitting digital DTT. This territory comprises 39 districts of Lima and Callao.
"The objective is for all Peruvians to enjoy the multiple benefits provided by the free DTT service. This change will be progressive because it is necessary for us to be informed in order to enjoy the service. For this reason, this year we will intensify the awareness-raising days at strategic points throughout the country, with emphasis on Lima and Callao, where the first analog blackout will take place and then the following ones will come in order to cover the entire national territory," said the Deputy Minister of Communications, Carla Paola Sosa Vela.
It is important to note that five analog blackouts will be carried out and the first is scheduled for December 2024, corresponding to Territory 01. Then, after evaluation and communication, the analogue cessation will continue in the other territories until the fifth and last one is reached.
