Intervideo reaches 42 years in the Chilean broadcast market

Carlos Contreras, intervideo

Chile. Although his company celebrates 42 years serving the broadcast market in Chile this 2023, Carlos Contreras, general manager of Intervideo accumulates a few more years of experience in the industry. He spoke with TVyVideo+Radio about his career and the present of the industry.

"I have seen everything happen, I have a positive view of the market, with a great experience. We have a long history, we have been incorporating the novelties of the market, which has been changing technology. We went from the time that were pure iron to when computing is incorporated. And we had the vision to know that this was coming in the future and we prepared. In this way, today we are in the broadcast market, basically, with a profile of delivering the know-how of our engineers as part of the service, "he explained.

Carlos Contreras stressed that his company's philosophy is not to represent many brands, but to have extensive knowledge of the products of the brands that are within its portfolio, such as EVS, Ikegami, Calrec, Riedel, AEQ, Lectrosonic, Genelec, among others.

"We have a lot of participation of our people in the projects. They are discussed with clients, advice is delivered. A characteristic of the business is that they are very slow to develop. We have a very good relationship with the channel engineering departments. And we have that advantage of being able to offer in-depth product knowledge. I always tell my engineers that, in order to offer a product, the first ones who have to know it are us, it is a philosophy of our company, "said the manager of Intervideo.

On the behavior of the broadcast market in Chile, Carlos Contreras said that the country went through a time of strong crisis in television channels, especially linked to the political situation in Chile and the pandemic, two things that came together. The channels went through very complicated times and the first thing they postponed were the investments.

"Now, fortunately, when the market recovers and there is a level of improvement in results, what has come in the last two years has been the replacement of products. So, the last two years have been very active years, especially with TV channels. We are working on remote television projects, obviously all in multiplatforms, all already working in digital. So, there has been a very positive change," he added.
