Mexico. The Federal Institute of Telecommunications, IFT, presented its Report of Comparable Information of Plans and Rates of Fixed Telecommunications Services 2019, relative to the fixed services of residential use of internet and fixed telephony and pay television in the modalities of double and triple play contracting.
The report, whose objective is to provide useful information to users that allows them to compare and make better informed decisions, includes the plans and rates offered on the electronic pages of the concessionaires, which have their due registration and correspondence before what is registered in the Public Registry of Telecommunications (RPT).
In the Report, the increase in the percentage of plans in the triple play mode stands out, which went from 9% in 2018 to 32% this year in packages that have a download speed greater than 50 megabits per second (Mbps), and whose price ranges between 754 and 2 thousand 59 pesos; as for the plans of 10 to 50 Mbps have monthly rents of 426 to 994 pesos and those of download speed less than 10 Mbps range between 454 and 500 pesos. Also, in this modality 62% of the plans considered are grouped in the range of 10 Mbps to 50 Mbps.
The offer in fixed internet, fixed telephony and pay television analyzed comprises between 45 and 265 channels. 55% of pay-TV plans offer more than 100 channels, 38% of plans from 50 to 100 channels and 7% are offered in the range of up to 49 channels.
Compared to 2018, when 48% of fixed internet and telephony plans – double play – included a download speed greater than 20 Mbps; this year it is announced that 50% of the plans reach a download speed of 10 to 50 Mbps and have a rent of 320 to 599 pesos; 40% offer a speed greater than 50 Mbps whose price ranges between 605 and one thousand 629 pesos and 10% offers a download less than 10 Mbps and its cost is between 239 and 340 pesos.
For double play plans - fixed internet and pay TV -, in 2019 4 offers were considered, of which 50% give up to 49 channels and have a monthly cost of between 470 and 520 pesos; 25% offer 50 to 100 channels and its cost is 570, and the other 25% that provides more than 100 channels and costs 519 pesos per month.
