Samsung enables the first 8K HDR10+ technology

International. Samsung announced that it will support the world's first 8K HDR10+ content in partnership with leading European streaming services. From this, Samsung is positioned as the global leader in the HDR (High Dynamic Range) specification sector. As part of the launch, three key OTT or free streaming service providers in Europe (CHILI, The Explorers and MEGOGO) will adopt 8K HDR10+ technology along with its 4K HDR10+ support.

HDR10+ innovation allows you to optimize brightness and maximize contrast ratio, making brighter and dark areas sharper. These enhancements are available on all 2019 UHD TV and 8K TV models, such as Samsung's QLED TV lineup.

In addition to the aforementioned OTT streaming services, other industry-leading content partners are collaborating with Samsung. Rakuten TV, Deutsche Telekom's Magenta TV and Videociety are expected to adopt HDR10+ support for their respective VOD services between the fourth quarter of 2019 and the first quarter of 2020. In addition, Molotov, the first French OTT streaming service to offer live and on-demand TV channels in one place, is also considering adopting HDR10+ mode. The interest of content partners and Samsung's work are a testament to the industry's commitment to improving the viewing experience for all people.

The availability of HDR10+ content continues to expand: recently Universal Pictures Home Entertainment and Warner Bros. Home Entertainment announced the arrival of HDR10+ on UHD Blu-ray with "The Secret Life of Pets 2" and "Godzilla: King of the Monsters", both of which are in addition to the UHD Blu-ray discs released by Twentieth Century Fox and others.

Since Samsung started the HDR10+ logo certification program with Panasonic and 20th Century Fox last year, 81 companies have joined the program, increasing their influence in the sector.

Samsung has also strengthened its effort with the opening of an HDR10+ center in China last December, after Korea, Japan and the United States. Thanks to obtaining this HDR10+ certification among TV manufacturers such as Hisense in China, the HDR10+ alliance is expected to grow even more.

In addition to HDR10+ certifications for existing TV and smartphone products, Samsung is working to implement the program in its B2B products. For example, micro LED models like The Wall Pro and The Wall Lux have already received certification, and the company plans to expand the ecosystem to include Samsung's LED product line.
