Brazil. RecordTV chose Grass Valley to transition its broadcast to IP production facility. This project is part of a multi-phase infrastructure upgrade to expand the broadcaster's studio capabilities and help it migrate to a new OPEX-based business model, where upgrades and enhancements can be added on demand, rather than being part of a CAPEX investment.
Efficient, flexible, scalable, and future-proof workflows are critical to enabling broadcasters and media organizations to meet the challenges of today's ever-evolving media landscape, keeping operating costs in check.
"IP has proven instrumental in driving workflow efficiency that helps us continue to provide our viewers with high-quality content, anytime, anywhere, regardless of format or service model changes," said Antônio Carlos Sobrinho, Project Manager at RecordTV.
"We have been working with Grass Valley for years and are confident that their support in this transition to IP will provide us with a solid infrastructure for the future," said José Marcelo Amaral, RecordTV's chief technology officer.
Recognizing the clear potential of open standards-based IP, RecordTV replaced its legacy infrastructure with a new Grass Valley IP solution that includes the IQH4B modular distribution and processing solution and the IQMIX25 multichannel video over IP transceiver; the configurable Luna control panel; Orbit control and monitoring and Cisco's switching network, to form the backbone of its expanded facilities.
This new integrated infrastructure brings together key areas in your studio (news, archive, MAM and the technical center), allowing greater cohesion and fluidity through IP networks without proprietary hardware. Now, RecordTV can handle content in any format and resolution (SD, HD, 3G and 4K UHD) over the IP network.
"The critical nature of real-time, 24/7 broadcast, coupled with the ever-changing media landscape, make it critical for broadcasters to adopt optimal systems to remain competitive. Open IP infrastructures are critical to enabling flexible and efficient workflows that free up production teams to focus on valuable creative tasks," said Nahuel Villegas, vice president of Grass Valley, Caribbean and Latin America region.
