Argentina. The 7th Latin American Telecommunications Congress already exceeds 60 confirmed panelists for more than 20 activities around infrastructure deployment, innovation, regulation, competition, transparency, coverage, universal service funds, digitalization, industry 4.0 and security, among other strategic issues.
The forum, which is being held for the first time in Argentina, will allow sharing experiences and promoting debate between public and private sector leaders to promote policies that accelerate the closing of the gap and the digital transformation of Latin America.
In recent years, there have been significant advances in both internet coverage and access in Latin America and the Caribbean. However, according to the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), 279 million people still do not use this service.
It is imperative to rethink key variables such as the management and availability of essential resources such as radio spectrum, the design and use of universalization funds, as well as to imagine new mechanisms that leverage investment in remote areas and where deployment and access costs still make the connectivity of low-income households unviable. These issues will be, precisely, the engine of the discussions that will outline the path towards the digitalization of Latin America.
To address these important discussions, the government participation of Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Chile, Cuba and Paraguay is confirmed; in addition to the leaders of regulatory bodies in 8 countries; and executives of the main companies in the sector.
