Mexico. The Federal Institute of Telecommunications, IFT, presented its Report of Comparable Information of Plans and Rates of Non-Residential Fixed Telecommunications Services 2019, regarding the contracting made by companies or businesses of fixed internet, fixed telephony and pay television services, in package or individually, known as single, double and triple play.
Among the main findings of this Report are:
Fixed Internet (single play)
We analyzed 21 plans that include a download speed from 3 Mbps to 500 Mbps.
The monthly rent for the plans ranges from $179 to $2,320.
The highest percentage of plans (48%) include a download speed of 10 to 50 Mbps.
Compared to the results of the 2018 Report, a reduction in the minimum monthly rent was identified in the plans that include a download speed of less than 10 Mbps, from $299 in 2018 to $179 in 2019.
Likewise, an increase in the percentage of plans that include a download speed of more than 50 Mbps was identified, going from 22% in 2018, to 24% in 2019.
Pay TV (single play)
7 plans were analyzed that include from 23 to 280 channels.
The monthly rent for the plans ranges from $154 to $1,039.
The highest percentage of plans (57%) include more than 100 channels.
Against the results of the 2018 Report, it was found that the percentage of plans that include more than 100 channels went from 50% in 2018 to 57% in 2019.
Fixed Internet and fixed telephony (double play)
We analyzed 18 plans that include a download speed from 10 Mbps to 200 Mbps.
The monthly rent for the plans ranges from $399 to $2,449.
50% of the plans include a download speed greater than 50 Mbps.
Compared to the results of the 2018 Report, for fixed internet and fixed telephony service contracted in double play mode, an increase in the percentage of plans that include unlimited local calls was identified, going from 72% in the previous year to 100% in 2019.
Fixed Internet and Pay TV (double play)
We analyzed 20 plans that include a download speed from 10 Mbps to 200 Mbps.
The monthly rent for the plans ranges from $401 to $979.
The highest percentage of plans (70%) include a download speed less than or equal to 50 Mbps.
Also, most plans (75%) include more than 100 channels.
In the internet and pay TV service contracted in double play mode, an increase in the percentage of plans that include a download speed less than or equal to 50 Mbps was identified, going from 65% in 2018 to 70% in 2019. Likewise, an increase in the percentage of plans that include more than 100 channels was identified, going from 41% in 2018 to 75% in 2019.
Fixed telephony and pay TV (double play)
4 plans including from 81 to 162 channels were considered.
The monthly rent for the plans ranges from $403 to $450.
100% of the plans offer Local Calls, Calls/Minutes to Mobile and International Long Distance Calls/Minutes on an unlimited basis.
The highest percentage of plans (75%) include more than 100 channels.
In the fixed telephony and pay TV service contracted in double play, an increase in the percentage of plans that include more than 100 channels was identified, going from 40% in 2018 to 75% in 2019.
Fixed Internet, Fixed Telephony and Pay TV (triple play)
We considered 14 plans that include a download speed from 20 Mbps to 200 Mbps.
The monthly rent for the plans ranges from $644 to $1,189.
100% of the plans offer local calls and international long distance calls/minutes on an unlimited basis.
The highest percentage of plans (57%) include a download speed less than or equal to 50 Mbps.
Also, the highest percentage of plans (79%) includes more than 100 channels.
Against 2018, fixed internet, fixed telephony and pay TV services contracted in triple play, an increase was identified in the percentage of plans that include a download speed of more than 50 Mbps, going from 28% to 43% in 2019. Likewise, an increase in the percentage of plans that include more than 100 channels was identified, going from 53% in 2018 to 79% in 2019.
