Peru. With the presence of more than 160 delegates from public institutions from 17 countries in the region, the Ministry of Transport and Communications, MTC, inaugurated the 34th Meeting of the Permanent Consultative Committee I: Telecommunications/ICT, CPP. I, with the presence of the Deputy Minister of Communications, Virginia Nakagawa.
This meeting takes place from April 29 to May 3, 2019, in Lima, with the purpose of promoting telecommunications and Information and Communications Technologies policies.
"We seek to contribute to regional debate, cooperation and coordination on issues related to telecommunications policies, development and standardization, with a view to improving social, economic, cultural and environmental development in the Americas, and contributing to the implementation of the 2030 agenda for sustainable development," said Deputy Minister Nakagawa.
Peru currently holds the position of chair of the CPC. I, represented by the MTC, through the Vice-Ministry of Communications. This space constitutes one of the most important forums for discussion in the region of the Americas, on issues of policy, ICT development.
During the week, different working groups will be held, where topics such as regulatory policies, development and deployment of technologies and services, among others, will be addressed. In addition, on Wednesday, May 1, the seminar "Gender and ICT" will be held, where regulation, cybersecurity and public-private partnerships for the implementation of projects with gender inclusion in the region will be discussed.
Peru and ICT
"Peru has been promoting the use of ICT for disaster risk management through the implementation of an early warning system for the dissemination of messages (SISMATE), through the networks of mobile telecommunications companies in Peru. The project will begin operations in September 2019," said Deputy Minister Virginia Nakagawa.
He also assured that the objective of the MTC is to implement in Peru a modern 911 plant, which allows a rapid and coordinated response to citizen emergencies.
