Colombia. Of the 772 articles, 48 formats and 41 annexes that constitute Resolution CRC 5050 of 2016 (regulatory compilation), 177 articles, 4 Formats, 7 Annexes and 15 definitions are totally or partially eliminated because they are considered obsolete rules as a result of market evolution, technological evolution, regulatory duplicity and transience.
This is part of phase 1 of the regulatory simplification roadmap, which will continue to permanently reduce and improve the existing regulation on issues such as: The regulation for the restriction of the operation in the networks of mobile terminal equipment reported as stolen or lost and the obligations in terms of information reports.
Aware of the need to have a legal framework in line with the needs of the sector, which responds to technological changes and eliminates bottlenecks given the new dynamics of the ICT and postal sector, since 2014, the Commission has developed efforts to simplify its regulation in such a way as to encourage investment in new infrastructure, generate a dynamic and competitive market, and maximize the well-being of users.
The articles totally or partially eliminated due to disuse, which were identified jointly by the Commission, the different agents of the sector, the Directorate of Surveillance and Control of the Ministry of ICT and the Superintendence of Industry and Commerce
"For the CRC, this project is of the utmost importance as a necessary factor to stimulate investment, which in turn has a positive impact on the economic growth of the sector and the well-being of users of communications services in Colombia," explained Carlos Lugo Silva, Executive Director of the CRC.
