Peru. The Ministry of Transport and Communications, MTC, left inoperative during 2018, 231 radio stations that operated nationwide with unauthorized frequencies. In that sense, 853 transmission equipment, antennas, consoles, among other telecommunications devices, were seized.
According to information from the General Directorate of Control and Supervision of Communications (DGCSC) of the MTC, of the total number of stations intervened with precautionary measure, 192 were located in Lima, seven in Piura, the same number in Pasco, six in Ica, five in San Martín, four in Huánuco, among others.
"The stations operated radio, free-to-air television, private teleservices or cable broadcasting services. These transmissions may cause interference with other authorized companies, which is reflected in the quality of the service. In addition, tax consequences, affectation to copyright, among others, "explained the general director of the DGCSC, Carlos Maesaka.
To carry out the interventions of the MTC, the support of the Public Ministry, the Judiciary and the National Police of Peru were counted on to stop this illegal behavior. Maesaka added that "the MTC works with state-of-the-art technology, which has the ability to locate and identify precisely where transmission equipment and broadcaster studios are located." It is also planned to strengthen technological tools to combat this illegality.
