Argentina. The Board of Directors of the National Communications Agency, Enacom, approved the purchase of Telefé (Television Federal S.A.) by Viacom, which will involve an initial investment of around 340 million dollars. This is the last step that was expected to close the business that was announced in November 2016, after 10 months of negotiation.
The meeting was attended by the president of Enacom, Miguel De Godoy, along with the directors Silvana Giudici, Heber Martinez, Alejandro Pereyra, Miguel Ángel Giubergia, Claudio Ambrosini and Guillermo Raúl Jenefes; and the Technical Manager, Mario Frigerio respectively.
The acquisition of Viacom includes channel 11 of Buenos Aires and eight channels of the Interior, located in Rosario, Neuquén, Córdoba, Mar del Plata, Tucumán, Bahía Blanca, Salta and Santa Fe, the international signal -which reaches 10 million subscribers in 17 countries-, the app Mi Telefe, Telefe Noticias and UPlay and the recently launched e-commerce store, twelve production studios totaling 12,000 m2 and a library of 33,000 hours of content with distribution in 35 languages in more than 100 countries.
