Colombia. 45 subscription television operators were sanctioned by the National Television Authority, ANTV, for copyright issues.
These sanctions correspond to the breach of contractual obligations related especially to the non-accreditation of the payment of copyright and related rights, the lack of reporting of information, and the provision of the service in places not authorized by the ANTV.
"In 2016 we managed to set a precedent and set ourselves the task of monitoring and verifying compliance with the obligations of subscription television service providers whose reports violated the law on copyright payments. This work, led by the National Television Board, allowed us to identify those operators who were incurring in this fault," said the director of the National Television Authority, Ángela María Mora Soto.
The director assured that in 2017 the entity will continue to carry out a rigorous follow-up as well as exercise its function of monitoring and sanctioning all television service providers in the country, when they fail to comply with their legal and contractual obligations that regulate said service.
