Peru. After the operations that allowed the dismantling of eight pirate stations, the Ministry of Transport and Communications, MTC, formed a working group to continue with its strategy to combat radio piracy.
The table is multisectoral and permanent, attached to the Commission for the Fight against Customs Crimes and Piracy of the Ministry of Production (PRODUCE). The Minister of Transport and Communications, Martín Vizcarra, presided over the installation ceremony of the working group, at the headquarters of the MTC.
The working group is made up of SUNAT, Indecopi, the Public Ministry, the National Police, operators in radiofusion services and associations in the field, said deputy Communications Minister Carlos Valdez, who also participated in the event.
Pirate radios use unauthorized radio frequencies, evade taxes and violate copyright, in addition to generating direct damage to formal radios by affecting the quality, operability and continuity of their services.
The Minister stressed that "the success of this working group depends on the effort of all those who make it up. This will be the articulating space in which the public and private sector can generate alliances that allow countering, reducing and eradicating radio piracy."
