Peru. The Ministry of Transport and Communications, MTC, in conjunction with the Prosecutor's Office and the Police, intervened five pirate radio stations in the Cerro Mina de Agua in the district of Villa María del Triunfo. As a result of this intervention, they seized transmitters, antennas, among other equipment.
"We have intensified interventions to eradicate radio piracy that evades taxes and causes interference in airport control towers, the communications of firefighters and the Police, in addition to harming formal broadcasters," said Miguel Arce, director of Control and Supervision of Communications of the MTC.
These operations with pirate radios will continue throughout the country, with the aim of eradicating illicit radios both civilly and criminally.
The official recalled that all advertisers are obliged to verify if the radio with which they contract advertising has current authorization, for which the MTC informs on its website: National Frequency Registry
