Chile. Scripps Networks Interactive announced the launch of Food Network on Movistar TV Chile, a company operated by Telefónica. The channel is available in high definition on channel 839 of the programming grid.
"We are very proud of the expansion of Food Network programming in Latin America, a region that has shown great demand for high-quality gastronomy and lifestyle entertainment content," said Eduardo Hauser, managing director of Scripps Networks Interactive for Latin America and the Caribbean. "We look forward to welcoming Movistar subscribers in Chile to our global community of Food Network fans."
Food Network Latin America presents highly successful series on Food Network USA including Cutthroat Kitchen, the fierce cooking contest presented by Alton Brown; Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, where host Guy Fieri travels across the country to visit some of the classic American restaurants; and All-Star Academy, an intense culinary challenge program where 10 home cooks will compete to take home a grand prize.
Rodolfo Mardonez, Deputy Content Manager of Movistar Chile, stressed that "Movistar is a leader in High Definition content in Chile and we are always looking for a way to deliver the widest, most attractive and innovative offer in HD channels. The Food Network signal, a leader in culinary entertainment, reinforces our programmatic grid for the benefit of our customers. We are very happy that they can enjoy quality content that complements our offer of IPTV Interactive TV, satellite television, HD grill, multiscreen experience and VOD".
The first launch of Food Network in the region was made with Sky Brasil in November 2014, and today the channel is available in both standard and high definition through two individual signals; in Spanish and Portuguese, reaching more than eight million households throughout the region.
