Mexico. The Federal Institute of Telecommunications, IFT, decided to grant four concessions to use and take advantage of frequency bands of the radio spectrum, as well as their respective single concession, for the provision of the public service of sound broadcasting in modulated frequency (FM) for community social use.
One of them was awarded to De Corazón Purépecha, A.C., which will provide the service in the towns of Ario de Rosales, Nuevo Urecho, Huacana and Turicato in the State of Michoacán. Their application was submitted under the 2015 Annual Frequency Band Program issued by the IFT.
The other three correspond to the transition of broadcasting permits to the concession regime established by the Federal Law on Telecommunications and Broadcasting (LFTR).
In the same way, the IFT Plenary resolved to authorize the transition of 23 broadcasting permits to the new concession regime, as provided for in the LFTR itself.
As far as the digital broadcast television service is concerned, the transition of 12 permits to the concession regime for public use and two permits to the social use regime was authorized.
Regarding the sound broadcasting service, three shortwave permittees were authorized to move to the new concession regime for public use and, in the same way, the transition of six permits to the concession regime for social use was approved.
In all cases, the granting of an equal number of concessions to use and take advantage of frequency bands of the radio spectrum for the provision of public service broadcasting and, where appropriate, a single concession was approved, respectively.
The applicants are the Government of the State of Mexico, the Government of the State of Aguascalientes, the Government of the State of San Luis Potosí, the Government of the State of Tlaxcala, the Government of the State of Querétaro, the Autonomous University of Nuevo León and the Juárez University of the State of Durango, as well as the Ministry of Public Education, the National Autonomous University of Mexico and the Autonomous University of San Luis Potosí.
It should be noted that the formal notification to the interested parties of the resolutions adopted in the terms of the applicable legislation is pending.
