Mexico. On February 26, 2016, Harmonic announced that the merger with Thomson was successfully completed. After five months, the first results are rated as positive, reflected in its increase in market share, said Dino Muñoz, VP of Sales and Strategic Accounts for Latin America and Central America at Harmonic.
"We are at the tip of the iceberg. After the acquisition of Thomson, its products became a total complement to Harmonic that had another market. It was a suitable complement, which is why we are the largest company in the dedicated market. We have no competition in terms of product line, in quality. We are at the forefront of total technology, of market in the compression part," he said during Convergencia MX, an exhibition held in Mexico City from July 19 to 21.
He considered that there is currently no other company that offers the solutions of the company integrated by Harmonic-Thomson: "One of the things is that this merger turned out to be 2 + 2 = 5, because when we join today prospects of customers who end up with us are appearing; there are companies that make solutions but they are smaller, since there are large customers -for example DIRECTV-, which is very difficult to buy from companies that do not have a livelihood".
Despite offering solutions to large customers, the company also has developments suitable for smaller operators. "We have product lines for smaller customers. That was the add-on thomson offered. We have low-cost products for operators in which spending is a problem, although they are already few, because most have been absorbed," Muñoz said.
