"The 700 MHz Band has advantages for providing 4G services, especially high-speed Internet in rural areas or areas of low population density; it will also meet the demand in urban areas with a high density of buildings and constructions, where more than 70% of traffic is concentrated," said Minister José Gallardo.
He added that to ensure the expansion of mobile broadband Internet in rural areas, the bidders of the tender will have to provide service coverage to more than 190 population centers throughout the country.

The 700 Band
The 700 MHz Band will allow each of the telecommunications companies to provide or expand mobile broadband internet service with Long Term Evolution (LTE) technology, or higher, to provide commercial 4G (fourth generation) services.
Because it is a coverage band, it has advantages for the provision of 4G services, especially Broadband or high-speed Internet in rural areas or low population density; In addition, due to its good penetration in buildings, it will make it possible to meet the demand of urban areas, particularly those with a high density of constructions and buildings, where more than 70% of traffic is concentrated.
These qualities facilitate the implementation of voice and data solutions using fourth-generation technologies. In addition, the 700 MHz Band concession will expand the availability of 4G technology nationwide.
Benefits to users:
Velocity
Users will be guaranteed minimum broadband Internet access speeds. It should be noted that operators will be able to offer speeds higher than those required in the contract.
Technology
While operators will employ 4G technology, it will also be able to use technologies with superior efficiency to it. Although the service will be focused on data transmission, in the future it could also be used for voice services, the so-called Voice over LTE or VoLTE.
Access
Most smartphones or 3G smartphones are multiband, so their users will not have difficulties in using them and accessing the services that can be offered using the 700 MHz Band.
