Colombia. The Chamber of Commerce of Bogotá and Proimágenes Colombia, with the support of the Fund for Film Development – FDC, organized on July 5 the launch for media of the Bogotá Audiovisual Market, better known as the BAM.
There we met Mónica de Greiff, President of the Chamber of Commerce of Bogotá, Trina, Director of Proimágenes Colombia, Ángela María Mora Soto, Director of the ANTV and Marcel Stubrin, Ambassador of Argentina in Colombia who told us about the multiple business opportunities for the audiovisual industry generated by this event and the novelties that its seventh edition brings.
What stands out the most is the new space in which writers and producers will have the opportunity to talk about the stories that are still in development, the BAM Stories Connecting producers and screenwriters section. In addition to Projects, BAM Talks, Screenings, Happy Hours and other meeting spaces for the realization of alliances and business, the Bogotá Audiovisual Market – BAM, brings to the audiovisual market the BAM Big Top, a service fair open to the public where attendees will know the offer of the different companies related to audiovisual production.
This will be carried out in the facilities of the Modern Gymnasium of Bogotá, camera services, editing, production and postproduction among others, will be visible in this space in which companies can also promote their services, strengthen and consolidate commercial alliances. In this space there will be a gastronomic offer with "Food trucks" that will give a special touch to the event.
Edition after edition, the BAM is ratified as a necessary destination for hundreds of national and international buyers who travel the markets in search of new proposals, as well as allies to develop their products in the country. In that sense, the organizers revealed that in 2015 334 buyers attended, 122 of them foreigners from 21 countries.
After the 2015 meeting, twice as many businesses were completed as in the previous year and there were success stories such as the selection of "La Ciénaga, entre el mar y la tierra" at the Sundance Festival 2016, which received two awards for the Colombian protagonists Vicky Hernandez and Manolo Cruz, also the project "Candelaria" of the company Antorcha Films, closed a co-production with Razor of Germany thanks to its participation in BAM Projects 2015.
The BAM has had sustained growth in terms of potential business since its first version in 2010. According to data from its organizers, in 2015 the attending buyers had business expectations for USD 12.7 million, almost five times the figure of expectations of 2014, which was USD 2.6 million. For 2016, the business expectation exceeds US$55 million.
The BAM Talks turns out to be an excellent opportunity to get to know the audiovisual sector closely, this activity is about academic meetings specialized in the audiovisual sector and open to the public, which are attended by prominent national and international guests. Ciro Guerra, Cristina Gallego, José Yorio, Charles Tesson, Sarah Rodrigues, Juan Pablo Galli and Karim Ben Khalifa, are some of the guests who will shine with their talks at the BAM Talks2016.
