International Broadcasting Association met in Lima

Peru. With the presence of representatives of broadcaster guilds from 13 countries, the meeting of the International Broadcasting Association, AIR, organized by the National Society of Radio and Television, SNRTV, was held in Lima.

The Minister of Transport and Communications of Peru. José Gallardo Ku, was in charge of inaugurating the meeting of the Board of Directors of the AIR. For his part, José Luis Saca, president of the AIR, highlighted the importance of broadcasting for democratic life and freedom of expression: "In the AIR, we aim to strengthen the full validity of freedom of expression in the three Americas," he said.

For his part, the president of the SNRTV, Abraham Zavala in his central speech said that "Radio and television of open signal are the only means of communication of free and free access for our population, however some companies are privatizing these services by blocking or eliminating the possibility of listening to FM radio on cell phones. In cases of emergency this is aggravated, because the signal goes down and the cell phone is totally useless."

This important meeting was also attended by the Deputy Minister of Communications Javier Coronado Saleh, the general director of the AIR, Juan Andrés Llerena and the first vice president of the AIR Jorge Omar Sosa.
