Latin America. The end of 2015 and the first months of 2016 have been very interesting for the company Evertz, which has achieved important projects in the region thanks to IP technology and the decision of the industry to adopt it.
Nicholas Ponomariv, sales director for Latin America at Evertz, told TVyVideo+Radio that the last few months have been good for the company because the industry accepted the challenge of IP, and channels and producers are installing their new projects considering their productions in 4K, and Evertz technology adapts to the needs of distributing, process and route signals in the IP domain.
Among the recent projects that the company has developed in Latin America, he pointed out the new headquarters of the Telemedellín channel in Colombia, in which the matrix, master control, monitoring systems and modular cards were installed. It is an efficient, robust and simple system.
Another project in the region was carried out in Channel 6 of Trinidad, in which playout systems, servers, and processing, routing and monitoring infrastructure were installed.
The professionals who visited the Evertz stand at the Andinalink fair, Nicholas said, were not only looking for information about IP technology, as in previous years. Now they had a real interest in starting the adoption of this technology low, because they see it as a necessity.
Finally, he pointed out that to promote IP technology, the Aspen Protocol was created, in which manufacturers and end users among whom are Evertz, Sony, RossVideo, Aja, Vizrt, ForA, formed a group to develop an open IP protocol that allows to have separate audio, video and data without the need to embed two signals or return to SDI. Details will be presented at NAB.
