Peru. The Ministry of Transport and Communications, MTC, has called for two public tenders for the granting of up to 129 new authorizations for the FM sound broadcasting service, in 26 locations in 20 regions of the country, with emphasis on areas of social interest and border.
The call includes, for the first time, the community purpose – aimed at promoting the identity and customs of the communities, in accordance with the State's social inclusion policy – in addition to the educational and commercial broadcasting purposes.
The competitions seek to promote access to broadcasting services of entities or individuals that are committed to programming with different and quality content, with emphasis on education, national integration and the customs of each locality.
Priority has also been given to border towns, rural areas and those located in the VRAEM; in addition, decentralization and the expression of public interest in the conduct of competitions were considered.
