Central America. The city of San José (Costa Rica) hosted on December 7 and 8 the X Meeting of the Intergovernmental Committee of the Ibero-American Educational and Cultural Television Program, CITEIb.
During these two days, the representatives of the member countries of the TEIb Program have analyzed the work carried out in the last year and defined the Strategic Plan for the years 2016/2017, outlining the objectives and strategies that will be carried out.
Within the framework of this meeting, Central America and the Caribbean Network has had a special relevance, an initiative whose main objective is to articulate networks of exchange and production of content, dissemination and training of specialized human resources to promote and contribute to the integration and cooperation of public service televisions in Central America and the Caribbean.
On the other hand, the members of CITEIb, Ibe.tv, have been presented the new web platform of the Ibero-American Educational and Cultural Television Program (TEIb) and the Association of Ibero-American Cultural Educational Televisions (ATEI), which was born after a digital trajectory of several years under the name nci.tv. This platform aims to fill the cultural gap that current communication channels cannot cover and to do so from the perspective of participation, information and opinion.
The Ibero-American Channel: Signal that unites us, is a proposal collected in the XXIV Ibero-American Summit of Heads of State and Government held in Veracruz (Mexico), and has been another of the highlights of the meeting. This Ibero-American Channel, which joins the complete technological map of TEIb, will be broadcast through the Hispasat and Eutelsat satellites and online through Ibe.tv.
The conference ended with the official closing at the Institute of Mexico in San José, Costa Rica, in which the pro tempore presidency was transferred from Mr. Gustavo Lomelín, Director of the DGTVE of Mexico, to Mr. Germán Vargas, Executive President of SINART.
In the symbolic act of transfer of the pro tempore presidency, Gustavo Lomelín, General Director of the DGTVE of Mexico, made reference to the fact that "the tangible success of this project will be the cooperation and collaboration of all" and wished all the successes to Germán Vargas, Executive President of SINART and current president pro tempore of the TEIb Program, who stressed that "through cooperation, TEIb has achieved that public service televisions integrate and share our experiences."
