Argentina. The board of directors of the Federal Authority for Audiovisual Communication Services, AFSCA, approved a new call for public tender for the award of a license for Open Digital Terrestrial Television (TDTA), to provide service as a for-profit operator in the Metropolitan Area of Buenos Aires (AMBA).
In the same way as what was resolved in previous days, when the reopening of a tender was announced for two digital channels that were not previously awarded, the directors of AFSCA decided to add to the call another channel that was also contested in May of this year and was not awarded.
In this case, it is a license that is available, after that, at the meeting of September 25, the directors of AFSCA rejected the presentations of the bidders TELEPIU S.A. and A.D.V.S.P.S. S.A., for not meeting all the conditions required for the award of the same.
In this context, with the signature of the president of the Board of Directors of the organization, Martín Sabbatella, and the directors Eduardo Rinesi, Ignacio Saavedra, Claudio Schifer, Marcelo Stubrin and Gerardo Milman, it was resolved that a new call for competition will be made for this digital TV channel, for profit, on November 13.
In this way, the agency for the application of the Audiovisual Communication Services law continues to advance in the process of integral digitization of Argentine television, in the face of the analog blackout established for 2019 in the country.
